start, quote, appropriate, copy, collage, recontextualise, repoetise, reposition, glue, tinker, rearrange, cut, de-passepartout, recycle, amplify, sample, lobby, analyse, reanalyse, categorise, discourse, collect, copy (sic!), accumulate and throw away.

Sebastian Neubauer's artistic activity is not limited to film/video and performance. However, it can certainly be seen as the root of the individual works or as an artistic focus. Adjacent fields such as experimental writing, conceptual sculptures, musical performances, staged photographs or even philosophical media analyses weave themselves into a multi-layered chaos full of serious playfulness.

Sebastian Neubauer produces new collages that hint at associative strings, but also like to deconstruct them again.

At the centre of his work is the interweaving of text and image, which for him seems to be a constant exploration between (pop)cultural references and critical analysis; it is about the joyful and humorous appropriation and affirmation of the established, which immediately raises the philosophical question of one's own identity; he also likes to bring chance on board so as not to sail the stormy seas alone.

And if chance is not on his side, he also seeks out conspiratorial colleagues to join him in a tempor
ary collective, only to return to his own projects once the work is done.

Sebastian Neubauer is currently primarily involved in the production of interactive installations and kinetic sculptures, which are presented as objects in exhibitions and can be activated by visitors in a poetic symbiosis.

On the other hand, some of these artefacts are staged and photographed solely for the camera - others are even used as props in his experimental films.
